Cassandra
Hsiao
playwright. poet. screenwriter.
A 626 Los Angeles native, Cassandra Hsiao is a writer and daughter of Malaysian-Chinese & Taiwanese immigrant parents. She received her B.A. from Yale University in Theater &
& Performance Studies and Ethnicity, Race & Migration. Her plays have been recognized, published, and produced across the country. Her poetry has been published by national and international lit magazines and organizations.
She will be completing two writing-intensive Artist Residencies in 2026: Taipei AIR Program at Treasure Hill Artist Village in Taiwan (March-May), and AIR Program at Grünewald Guild (Sept-Oct).
She thrives in writing stories that disrupt the norms of time, genre, or societal expectations.
